HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JASON
We arrived at Nawiliwili, Kauai at 8:00am.This port is named after the Wiliwili trees. It was only 80 miles from Honolulu so we must have done a couple loops during the night. It is called the garden isle because it is so green and lush. At breakfast we spotted many whales, some breaching the water. It is always fantastic to see these mammals.
We just planned on exploring close by the port as we were here before and took a helicopter ride around the island. We went to the Marriott Resort and walked the beach. Took a shuttle to a shopping area that was actually the largest mall in Kauai. Nothing special, we were just looking for somewhere to walk. We ended up at Kalapaki Joe’s for lunch. I googled this one at home. Nice sport’s bar, so we watched the OSU BB game. We had some Nacho’s Hawaiian style and some good Hawaiian beer. Betty had a nice Hawaiian diet coke. It was so nice sitting outside on the patio, we stayed for nearly 3 hours. We walked thru the local shops and I bought my first T-Shirt. (21 days and only one t-shirt, a record for Bill!)
It was a nice relaxing day, almost felt as relaxed as these Hawaiian people look. We sailed out at 4:30 and we have another 5 days at sea as we head on a south-south-westerly course to Pago-Pago.
Tonight’s Entertainment was a comedian, George Casey a Irishmen who was quite funny.
