Where did Saturday Feb. 11 go????

February 12, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BARB WOODWORTH

birthday

The last blog was written for February 10th, Friday, which was yesterday. We went to bed last night and woke up this morning and they tell us it is Sunday February 12th. What happened to Saturday? We paid for a 107 day cruise so do we get a refund or is this a cost saving measure by Princess.

Here is Princess’s explanation.

The international Dateline(sometimes known as the Greenwich ante-meridian) is generally North-South line that runs from Pole to Pole on the opposite side of the Earth to the Greenwich Meridian(Longitude 0 degrees). This means it is the point where 180 degrees West or time zone 00 meets 180 degrees East or time zone 24, in effect, if you were to stand across this line, you would simultaneously be both 12 hours ahead and 12 hours behind GMT. Therefore when this line is crossed you either gain or lose a day. So in our case February 11 never was.

Princess gave passengers whose birthday fell on February 11th a special recognition.  There would probably be a riot if these people missed their free birthday cake at dinner.

This evening’s show was Kevin Spirtas, a Broadway performer and actor from Days of Our Lives. It actually turned out to be a very good show, he sang many Broadway hits as well as funny songs he wrote about the soap opera.  If anyone watched Days of Out Lives, he was the Chief of Staff – we have no clue since we’ve never seen it.

Todays was a very hot and muggy day with occasional rain showers so we were unable to sit on the balcony. Tonight we continue on our south-westerly course before we arrive at Dravuni Island, Fiji.
